Sokcho is a beautiful city on the East coast of South Korea, which is widely known for its’ beaches, fishery and shipbuilding. Yet, it is also home for many North Korean refugees who fled from Hamgyeong Province to South Korea during the Korean War and stayed in this town for over 60 years. Most of them are situated in Cheong-ho District, a small town, most widely known as Abai Village.
It was not originally called this way.
